Abstract

Multiple reports and studies highlight the need for the global engineering community and policymakers to develop programmes to address the public’s perception of engineering, to influence pre-university students and their teachers and to position engineering education as a more attractive programme of study. Many engineering societies have developed programmes and activities that support and promote engineering as a programme of study and career choice among pre-university teachers, their students, and the public. Several examples of how engineering societies are delivering programmes and activities in this area are discussed.
