Abstract
This chapter critically examines the limitations of traditional project management processes in delivering anticipated value or benefits, particularly in the IT sector, where around 30% of projects reportedly fail to realize benefits. The author introduces the Agile Manifesto as a response to this challenge, emphasizing principles over processes. Twelve Agile benefits realization principles are delineated, categorized as must-have, essential, and technical. Noteworthy principles include consequence management, visibility, and consistency, challenging the conventional process-oriented approach. The chapter argues for a paradigm shift towards principles, advocating that Agile principles guide processes and practices, ultimately fostering a more ethical and value-driven decision-making approach for successful benefits realization in project management.
