Abstract

Temperature plays a crucial role in determining the functionality and applicability of materials in specific technological applications. Metal matrix composites (MMCs) have found application in a wide range of industries such as aerospace, automotive and biomedical due to their superior high temperature properties relative to their wrought metals and alloys. These properties include improved creep and fatigue resistance, increased thermal insulation and enhanced abrasion and wear resistance.
