Abstract

The Hammett reaction constant Q+ has been determined for the styrene addition of MeO—P—W(CO)5, as generated from the appropriate 7—phosphanorbomadiene complex. The phosphinidene reactivity is evaluated and compared with that of the ambiphilic MeO-C-Cl carbene.
