Abstract

Methoxy-polyethylene glycol (MPEG)-doped Cu (I)-polyaniline acts as an efficient catalyst for the 1,2,3-triazole formation reaction. The catalyst shows excellent performance when the reaction was carried out under ultraviolet irradiation conditions due to the photo-induced free-radical formation from the MPEG. A detailed mechanistic discussion on the free-radical generation, free-radical-mediated hydrogen abstraction and triazole formation has been outlined in this manuscript. The catalyst system is equally active for one-pot multi-component strategies for the title reaction.
