Abstract

A cross-country analysis of fiscal sustainability was conducted using both the cointegration and model-based approaches. The results revealed evidence of fiscal policy sustainability in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), with the existence of cointegration between government revenue and expenditure ratios and a pronounced conditional response of government revenues following a change in government expenditures.
