Abstract

The probability of the updating parameters in light of the measured modal properties was determined using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). The Bayesian method was introduced to solve the FE updating problem based on modal properties. The standard deviations of the distributions obtained through the use of the MCMC method to sample the distribiution was shown. The measured natural frequency data showed that for all the modes the updated model was more accurate than the initial mode. It was found that the method significantly improves the accuracy of the finite element models.
