Abstract

This paper presents the factors affecting the uptake and the deployment of ICT4D projects from the project implementers' perspective. The study deployed a qualitative research method and in-depth interviews with the project implementers/managers from a Johannesburg based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). The findings from the interviews show that the main factors of ICT4D project uptake and deployment were: (1) contextualisation (2) partnerships and collaboration. Participative Development (P.D.) was subjective to the context of the project. Future research focused on the beneficiary's perspectives must be conducted.
