Abstract
The fight against global poverty alleviation and hunger has been a long battle not yet accomplished. The subsequent effects of the two animals have for years been contributed by many effects. It has been proposed that wars and conflicts play a significant role in hindering progress toward the achievement of SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), which have yet to be fully realized. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has had far-reaching implications for the global fight against poverty and hunger. The ongoing violence in eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea by Russia have disrupted the economies of both countries, leading to decreased economic growth, increased inflation, and decreased investment globally. This has in turn contributed to higher levels of poverty and hunger, particularly in conflict-affected areas. The conflict has also had a negative impact on the agricultural sector, making it more difficult for farmers to access markets and produce crops. This has contributed to decreased food production and higher food prices, further exacerbating poverty and hunger. Additionally, the conflict has strained the healthcare systems of both Ukraine and Russia, making it more difficult for individuals to access the healthcare they need, further exacerbating poverty and hunger. Addressing the root causes of the conflict and working to restore stability and economic growth will be essential for achieving sustainable development goals, including ending poverty and hunger. Overall, the ongoing conflict has made existing poverty and hunger problems worse in both Ukraine and Russia, making it more difficult for people to access basic necessities and live with dignity. Additionally, the ramifications of the conflict have spread beyond the borders of Ukraine and Russia, exacerbating the difficulties for countries that rely on imports from these two nations, especially in the developing world that are still grappling with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper explores in depth the various implications of the Russia-Ukraine War in achieving the SDG 1 and SDG 2.
