Evolution of Governance Paradigms: A Translational Perspective of the Also Changing World

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This article aims to examine the evolution of governance paradigms in the dynamic world. The current perspective of public administration as governance has been born as a result of the failure of the New Public Management, failures of national governments to address emerging challenges of the twenty-first century, unprecedented technological advances and the collapse of the state-centred authority among others. This study examines the shifts from traditional public administration to e-governance in promoting public value. This study used a traditional literature review to assess the evolution of governance paradigms as a translational perspective of the changing world. This study’s findings established that governments around the world are shifting from traditional public administration to e-governance which provides a means of increasing their administrative openness, improving public service quality to the citizens, and facilitating government and citizen involvement in various governance processes.
