Abstract

In this paper, a simple and novel method is proposed to enhance PID control for complex processes. Compared with the existing PID tuning methods, the proposed design method can achieve better performance for a wide range of complex processes. The principle of the method is to introduce a pre-compensator for the process such that conventional PID tuning methods are applicable to the compensated process. Simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
