Abstract

Electrochemical grinding (ECG) is a process that combines electrochemical removal with mechanical abrasion to machine various work pieces. This chapter explains the working principles, including electrochemical processes, rotating grinding wheels, and material removal mechanisms. It also discusses operational parameters such as voltage, electrolyte concentration, duty cycle feed rate, electrode temperature, current, and material removal rate. This chapter discusses the various variations of (ECG) that are tailored for specific applications. Electrochemical grinding is used in various industries and has the potential to be used in different applications, which are also discussed in this chapter. The advantages and challenges of this grinding method are outlined, and a comparison is made with other grinding processes. The chapter concludes with a summary of ECG's current state and recommendations for future research.
