Abstract

The chapter delves into the significance of ESG reporting in modern business practices and explores how digitalization can enhance the quality, consistency, and transparency of ESG reporting. It lays out a comprehensive theoretical foundation on ESG, including its evolution, challenges, and growing importance. The chapter also covers theories of sustainable development, digitalization, and their role in ESG, providing a holistic perspective on the topic. Furthermore, the chapter discusses a few companies’ case studies that have successfully implemented digitalization in their ESG practices. Lastly, the chapter highlights the importance of policymakers in promoting ESG digitalization and calls for a collective effort to achieve the SDGs.
