Abstract
Dicarbonyl(η5-cyclopentadienyl)iron(II) η1-complexes of carbohydrates are prepared by reaction of 2-deoxy-2-halosugars with sodium dicarbonyl(η5-cyclopentadienyl)ferrate via a single-electron-transfer mechanism. Evidence for the in situ conversion of these compounds into the corresponding thermo-labile dicarbonyl(η5-cyclopentadienyl)iron(II) η2-complexes, is presented.
