Abstract

Improved situational awareness and public reassurance during the preparedness and response phase of a disaster enable timely and accurate actions that result in decreasing the disaster's impact and, ultimately, safeguarding human lives. Evidently, efficient and effective data dissemination plays a decisive role in this process since it maintains the links between the various stakeholders. Collected data can help to build a better picture of the situation at hand, while data distributed to individuals can reassure them of the measures taken to alleviate the risks.
