Abstract

One of the most intriguing and persuasive mechanisms that living organisms have for responding to stresses, both biotic and abiotic, is through the production of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases. It is becoming clearer that plants often have to react to many pressures at once and that how they respond to distinct stimuli may interact. As a result, ongoing attempts are made to include durability against biotic and abiotic stressors in each given plant type. These could be affected through genetic engineering or by hybridization wherein the expression and activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes, resulting in resistance, are altered through diseases, pests, or adverse environmental conditions. This, therefore, puts this knowledge to very handy use when setting up strategies of crop improvement to sail through this age of changing climate and a booming population.
