N2 - This discussion paper deals with curriculum responsiveness in engineering education, in the context of Industry 5.0. While the presented research approach is rooted in established curriculum theory, it is argued that an evolved model for curriculum responsiveness is needed to meet the current and future curriculum needs in engineering education. Curriculum conceptions, and the roles and interplay of knowledge and contextual factors are explored to draw out potential adaptations to engineering curricula to support their responsiveness. The new model presents a balanced approach to considering the responsiveness of curricula in relation to their distinct relationships with society, industry, and the institution.
