Abstract

In this chapter the recent curriculum development and other efforts put into action in Finland are looked into. Our aim is to illustrate how to meet the challenge of making science and technology more attractive by introducing them in contextbased educational settings. One of the guiding principles in Finland for selection of contexts are cross-curricular themes, like the individual and technology or responsibility for environment, mentioned in the national framework curriculum. Environmental and technological issues as content and context in science are discussed as examples. Moreover, technology education as a part of science education and handicraft education is discussed closely.
