Abstract

There are various techniques available for the integration of renewable energy generation in the power system. Some of these techniques are distributed energy generation, microgrid systems, etc. The microgrid system incorporated the renewable energy-based energy sources to generate the energy to supply the connected demands. The major issues with the renewable energy-based power system are their variability and intermittency with respect to the atmospheric conditions. These issues minimized the reliability and sustainability of the microgrid-based energy system. This shortcoming can be overcome with the help of microgrid cluster technology, in which more than one individual microgrid is connected together to supply the integrated demand. The advantage of MGC technology is the enhanced reliability and sustainability as compared to the individual microgrid system due to its better control and coordination. MGC technology provides a solution for economic, technical and environmental issues associated with the operation and control of standalone microgrid systems.
