Abstract

Photovoltaic cell modeling using 5-parameter cells are considered simple but less-accurate compared to the 8parameter models. Different optimization techniques have been proposed for the optimization and extraction of these unknown cell parameters. However, most of these techniques suffer some limitations that reduce their performances. In this paper, four different optimization techniques were compared under different cell temperatures to determine the most effective technique for the optimization of solar cell parameters. Findings show that shuffled frog leaping algorithm exhibited the best performance and can be suggested for the accurate extraction of photovoltaic cell parameters under different cell temperatures.
