N2 - The fluctuations of electricity prices in demand response schemes and intermittency of renewable energy supplies necessitate the adoption of energy storage in power systems. These energy storage system require some management strategies to deliver energy optimally in the presence of intermittent behavior of the renewable generation and the dynamic nature of electricity price. This paper presents a cost minimization algorithm based on arbitrary threshold price to charge and discharge the energy storage devices in an optimal way to reduce the electricity cost. This considers distributed generation such as photo-voltaic (PV) generation (domestic rooftop solar and commercial rooftop solar) with cloud energy storage (CES) which reduces the electricity cost by charging the energy storage devices at a negligible price when compared with conventional sources. The simulation results based on load, »domestic and commercial photovoltaic generation'', »wholesale electricity prices of small and medium consumers» for the case study show the feasibility of the proposed approach algorithm for CES management system for cost minimization.
