Abstract

Four new 5-methylchromone derivatives, namely (E)-2-acetonyl-8-(2'-O- feruloyl)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-7-methoxy-5-methylchromone from A. africana, (E)-2-acetonyl-8-(2',6'-di-O,O-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-7-hydroxy-5- methylchromone from A. speciosa, (E)-2-acetonyl-8-(2'-O-caffeoyl)-β-D- glucopyranosyl-7-methoxy-5-methylchromone and (E)-2-acetonyl-8-(2'-O- caffeoyl)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-7-methoxy 5-methyl-chromone along with 6'-O- cinnamoyl-5-hydroxyaloin A and 5-hydroxyaloin A from A. broomii, were isolated. The structures of the new compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic methods including ES-MS.
