Abstract

The existence of Ce2Rh2Pb is reported as a new member of the Ce2T2Pb series of compounds (T=d-electron metal). Ce 2Rh2Pb adopts the tetragonal U3Si 2-type crystal structure. The lattice parameters were obtained as a=7.6803(3)Å and c=3.7478(2)Å from a Rietveld analysis of powder X-ray diffraction data. The sample has furthermore been characterized through electron-microprobe analysis as well as measurements of the electrical resistivity down to a temperature of 4 K.
