Abstract

The Comparative Education Review (CER) publishes both theoretically informed and practice-oriented research articles, as well as book reviews that focus on a variety of issues analyzed by comparative educators, international and development educators, and social scientists representing different perspectives and a range of countries. An innovative feature of the journal is what is termed a moderated discussion. This feature opens up space for a set of scholar/practitioners in the field of comparative and international education to offer informed commentaries on important and controversial topics. Previous moderated discussion topics include (1) The Task Force on Higher Education and Society (2004); (2) Comparative Perspectives on Terrorists, Despots, and Democracy (2005); (3) Comparative Education, Area Studies, and the Disciplines (2006); (4) UNESCO’s Role in Global Educational Development (2007); (5) 2 Million Minutes (2009); (6) Preschool in Three Cultures Revisited (2009); (7) International Aid to Education (2010); (8) Religion, Education, and Secularism in International Agencies (2011), and (9) Public-Private Partnerships and the Global Reform of Education in Less Wealthy Countries (2012).
