Abstract

In Chaps. 1 and 2, the millimeter-wave transmission and the challenges and opportunities associated with it were discussed in some detail. In Chap. 1 it was established that this regime offers a wide variety of opportunities in wireless communication, backhaul, automotive radar, imaging and radio astronomy. In Chap. 2 it was established that licensed or unlicensed ranges with large bandwidths support these applications. However, research and design in the millimeter-wave range are only possible if there are active and passive devices that are able to support the visions researchers and designers are pursuing.
