Abstract

In Ce(NixCo1 - x)Sn, thermal expansion (TE) and magnetostriction (MS) (at 14 T), show for 0.60 ≤ x ≤ 0.65, a first order valence transition at temperature Tv. From TE jump at Tv the change in the valence is ≈ 0.1. Volume, ω, and anisotropic, λt, MS's strongly peak at Tv. Outside Tv, ω and λt follow the interconfigurational valence ICF model.
