Abstract

The paper looks at the design and implementation of analog signal acquisition and transmission system within the Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) and Very Low Frequency (VLF) bands of the electromagnetic spectrum. The study presents a transmission system which employs hardware for modulation and software for demodulation, within the ELF and VLF bands. The Fourier transform is used for verification of transmission by analysis of the spectrum of the analog signal before modulation and transmission and after demodulation. Demodulation using software does work and its usage can reduce the complexity that comes with the use of hardware. The study focuses on the acquisition of analog signals and transmission through wired and wireless environments. The results as presented in this paper focused on acquisition of vibrations signals, transmitted wirelessly through very short communication waveguide, and using Amplitude Modulation Double Sideband Large Carrier, (AM DSB-LC). The use of ELF and VLF bands for transmission allows opportunity to develop affordable acquisition devices for analog signals.
