Abstract

This paper considers the relevance of Operations Research to electrical transmission network load forecasting. It provides a solution on how to structure the transmission networks so that a number of expert views in the South African electrical industry can be modelled mathematically and then uses those outputs for network power-flow studies. The outputs (point loads) should include all future load growth trends so that the electrical networks can be expanded in the most cost-effective manner.
