Abstract

Hair is one of the most visible outward signs of age, vigor and health in humans. Alopecia or the gradual or sudden loss of hair is mostly caused by androgenetic steroid hormones, autoimmune attack on hair follicles, or as a result of chemotherapy. To study possible therapies for alopecia, it is important to have an array of models in vitro or in laboratory animals. This chapter summarizes these models.
