Abstract

An all fibre Fabry-Perot interferometer is proposed, using coherence demultiplexing and fibre loopreflectors, whereby the inherent disadvantages of the interferometer can be overcome.Disadvantages include the limited sensing range and the non-linear output. The limited sensingrange is overcome by the use of coherence demultiplexing and the bilinear transform is used forlinearizing the output. Coherence demultiplexing is achieved using a double cavity Fabry-Perotinterferometer consisting of two cavities formed between three fibre loop reflectors. An addedadvantage using two cavities, is the ability to introduce a phase generated carrier demodulationsystem.
