Abstract
The design and implementation of a new type of nonlinear digital controller are described. This controller and other comparable ones are evaluated by implementing them on a laboratory microturboalternator system coupled to a minicomputer. Offline theoretical predictions of the system response, based on a comprehensive mathematical mode, are presented. The results show that the transient performance of this new controller compares favorably with that of existing digital controllers. A novel nonrecursive solution to the discrete Riccati equation is demonstrated.
