Abstract

Processing techniques are critical to the performance of polymer products, which are used in a wide range of industries. This book provides a comprehensive review of polymer processing, focussing on recent developments in techniques and materials. Thermosets, thermoplastics, elastomers, foams and nanocomposites are all discussed; multiphase systems are considered from macro to nano scales. Developments in established techniques are reviewed, such as extrusion technologies, injection moulding and blow moulding, in addition to recently developed processing technologies, such as those using supercritical fluids, micromoulding and reactive processing. Finally post-processing techniques are examined, as well as analysis of the moulding process.
