Abstract

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is the administration of a drug known as a photosensitizer (PS) either topically, locally, or systematically to a patient bearing a lesion, followed after some time by the irradiation of the lesion with visible light, and leading to a desirable therapeutic outcome. This technique is very promising to treat cancer, coronary artery disease, and other illnesses.
