Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) presents immense opportunities to SMEs by providing platforms to share resources and to collaborate better. The umbrella concept that explains the coordinated effort of people to share resources and collaborate through digital platforms is generally known as the Sharing Econom y (SE). This study investigated SE research trends and gaps from the context of SMEs. The exploration analyzed six different SE aspects from 77 previous SE studies in the context of SMEs. These aspects included SE forms, values of SE for SMEs, SMEs sectors, the context of nations, geographic origin of data and cases, and methodological.
