Abstract

A taxonomic revision of the Othonna coronopifolia group (Asteraceae: Senecioneae: Othonninae) is presented. Species in this group are twiggy shrublets with stiff, woody stems, leaves often on short-shoots (brachyblasts) and/or in axillary tufts, and moderately large, radiate flowering capitula, mostly borne on solitary peduncles on short-shoots. This account includes descriptions, complete nomenclature and typification, illustrations and geographical distribution of the species. We recognise six species: Othonna coronopifolia L., O. leptodactyla Harv., O. pavonia E. Mey. ex DC., O. pteronioides Harv., O. ramulosa DC. and O. spinescens DC. Three names are reduced to synonymy: O. trinervia DC. under O. pavonia, and O. bergeri Spreng. and O. mucronata Harv. under O. coronopifolia.
