Abstract
The elevation of the pavement and the presence of dark-grey Karoo shales in minor valleys along the flank of the large Permo-Carboniferous Kaap Valley imply that the Ghaap Escarpment was a pre-glacial topographic feature and that palaeoice flow was entirely controlled by the topographic grain of the region.-from Authors
