A new technique for magnetite particle size reduction - Relevance to magnetic fluid preparation

Abstract

Commercial magnetite powder was ballmilled at liquid nitrogen temperature. Particles were reduced to colloidal sire after about 72 h of grinding. The method is found to be suitable for preparation of non-aqueous based magnetic fluid.
