Abstract
This paper aims to present a generalization of the main results of Suzuki [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 136(5):1861–1869, 2008] and Ćirić [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 45: 267–273, 1974]. We introduce a new class of mappings that contains several existing classes of contraction mappings as special cases. We then establish some fixed point results for this new class of mappings. We also provide illustrative examples to support our theoretical findings. Moreover, we discuss an application to delay differential equations.
