Abstract

In this global economy, advancements in wireless technology communications have provoked the demand for Wireless Sensor network (WSN). WSN is gaining central attraction today in the scientific community. It consists of plenty of tiny, low-cost devices known as sensors that are capable of collecting and forwarding the data and are being adopted in numerous applications that focus on finding the exact location like tracking of children or pets located in the indoor or outdoor environment, environmental monitoring, biomedical health monitoring. So localization study plays a vital role in our lives today. It is done to locate the coordinates of unknown target nodes that are being placed in the sensor field. This paper is providing a comprehensive review of the classification techniques that are applied to acquire the exact location of the nodes, comparative analysis of the most relevant techniques, and future aspects for the localization algorithms.
