abstract = "This is a comparative study of two metaheuristic algorithms (Exchange Market Algorithm and Ant Lion Optimizer) when applied to solving the economic dispatch optimization problem. Both algorithms were implemented on the standard IEEE 14 bus and 30 bus systems. The results obtained were compared on the metrics of convergence rate, cheaper cost, average runtime and stability. From analysis, there is a trade-off between both algorithms in terms of performance for both test cases which proves the 'No Free Lunch' theorem that there is no metaheuristic algorithm best suited for solving every optimization problem. This study also proves the robustness and effectiveness of the two algorithms in solving optimization problems.",
