FADA, the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, champions the belief that these creative disciplines can positively impact our world. Committed to fostering proactive skills among students, we emphasize translating knowledge, skills, and values into real-world applications.
In the digital era, symbolized by the hashtag generation and the omnipresence of social media, a globally connected society has emerged. FADA recognizes the significance of integrating the global art, design, and architecture community into its educational approach.
At its core, FADA celebrates diversity by housing various creative disciplines under one roof, emphasizing sustainability and relevance. Engaging actively with the vibrant city of Johannesburg and the global landscape, FADA's eight creative disciplines are continually expanded through internal and external collaborations.
Remaining adaptable to change, FADA collaborates closely with industry experts to ensure the competitiveness and relevance of its professional programs. Graduates emerge well-prepared for careers in national and international markets, working across various industry sectors or pursuing freelance opportunities.
Facility-wise, FADA boasts state-of-the-art, purpose-built facilities tailored to each design discipline. The faculty is staffed with esteemed academics, architects, artists, and designers. Offering specialized workshops, studios, cutting-edge computer labs, common lecture venues, an auditorium, a gallery, and a subject-specific library, FADA also houses UJ Arts & Culture, managing professional theatres and an art gallery across its campuses.
