    Description

UJ Metropolitan Academy is the high school of the University of Johannesburg with Metropolitan as co-sponsor.

Our school was started in 1992 by the then Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) in an effort to help learners from previously disadvantaged communities who excel in Mathematics and Science to enhance their skills in preparation for tertiary education.

In 1994 Metropolitan has joined hands with RAU in this project and we were named Metropolitan Raucall. Our first matric group wrote the National Senior Certificate exam in 1996 and on average since then we had a 98 – 100% pass rate with 80% or higher university exemption.

The school celebrated its 20th birthday in 2012. The name was then officially changed from Metropolitan Raucall to UJ Metropolitan Academy.

In 2019 the Minister of Education launched our school as a school of specialisation in Mathematics, Science and ICT with a focus on high tech innovation.

The success of our school can be attributed to various factors; such as: education department and sponsor support, dedicated educators, parent involvement and diligent, focused learners.

Our school constantly features as a top schools in the Johannesburg North district.
